About the Authors of this Website
We are library and information science graduate students at the University of Michigan School of Information. This website was created for a class assignment, but we designed it with care and hope that it will be of real use for writers who are ready to share and publish their work.
AmyAs a child, I often sat in a small Kansas library reading about far off places I thought I would never see. The library provided a free and open place to discover the world. I am now studying at the School of Information to be an academic librarian. A year in Russia inspired me to study how libraries can support community development, locally and internationally. I like to see the world open up to patrons as it did for me in the library!

JessicaI started writing stories as a kid. I briefly pursued publication of poems, short stories, and some creative nonfiction in the past few years. Through these experiences I've learned much of the information that we put on this website. I've experienced a few successes and many rejections. Such is the writing experience! These days, I spend more time reading fiction than writing it. After graduation, I'm hoping to work in a medium sized academic library. |
LydiaWhen I was about four years old my father threw out our TV. My family quickly adapted and soon my siblings and I fought over books instead of television programs! I spent most of my childhood reading, dreaming, pretending, and writing about the worlds I created. Now that I'm a "grown-up" I still spend the majority of my free time reading books or blogging about the way I see the world. In the future I plan to work at a university or medical library by day and read and dream by night.

JessicaI'm a native Michigander who grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. The library was my second home as a child, and now I'm at UMSI to become a youth services librarian. I'm particularly intrigued by the changing role that libraries have in people's lives and what that means for young patrons. Even when I'm not studying, you can still find me at the library looking for another book to read!
